



CAP Director of Assessment, Education, and Research
Dr Weiner received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and has taught at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the Rochester Institute of Technology. He has also published in numerous professional journals and regularly presented at professional conferences.
Dr. Weiner has been helping chemically dependent adults, adolescents, and their families since 1983. Prior to working for Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches, he served as the Outpatient Treatment Director at Park Ridge Chemical Dependency in Rochester, New York and the Treatment Director for the Addictions Recovery Center at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic in Clifton Springs, New York.
Consulting Medical Director to the Athlete’s Program
Dr. Louis E. Baxter is the Consulting Medical Director of Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches and the Medical Director of their Professional Athletes Program. He has over 30 years of experience in the addiction care field, and is also Director of The American Board of Addiction Medicine. He has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine & Dentistry’s Newark Medical School since 2000. Dr. Baxter is a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners and American College of Sports Medicine. He’s also the Immediate Past President and board member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, a member of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals and the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and a fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine.
Dr. Baxter has been a Substance Abuse Consultant for the NFL since 2002, and the NBA since 2007. He has served on the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, the Advisory Council to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Liaison Council to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, and is currently on the National Advisory Council to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, and his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine, Dr. Baxter completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center, and his fellowship in Addiction Medicine at Portsmouth Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. He is a dedicated addiction care professional, and an invaluable member of the BHOPB roster. His years of experience and comprehensive abilities in the substance abuse recovery arena have earned him top honors, including being published in a textbook for the American College of Legal Medicine. He has authored or co-authored many publications, including medical and medical-legal chapters in the private and public sector for State and Federal agencies on a variety of Addiction and Addiction Treatment issues. Dr. Baxter has been recognized as the Top Industry Expert in Addiction Treatment by Cambridge Who's Who for 2010 and 2011.
Psychiatrist
Dr. Star has held a number of Clinical and Academic positions in the field of Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry before coming to Seaside Palm Beach. After receiving her Medical Degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, she became the Chief Resident at Children's Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH with triple board training in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child Psychiatry. She is also certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychosomatic Medicine and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr Star has taken part in numerous clinical trials and has conducted research in the areas of: Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, and “hands on” psychotherapy methods for children, adolescents, and adults.
Psychiatrist
After receiving her Medical Degree in 1999, Dr. Dorce completed her General Psychiatry Residency at Harvard, followed by a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency at Yale. She is a certified member of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is licensed to practice medicine in MA, CT, NY, and FL. Dr.
Dorce has been a Visiting Clinical Instructor for the Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry, and has served as Clinical Psychiatrist for numerous medical facilities, including: New York Presbyterian Hospital, Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Riverview Hospital for Children and Youth. She is member of the American Psychiatric Association, and has published articles on a variety of interesting subjects relatable to mental health, such as Trans-racial adoption and adolescent substance abuse.
Primary Therapist - Phase II
Laura earned her Master degree from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado in transpersonal counseling psychology which is a mind, body, spirit philosophy of psychology. She received her Bachelor’s from Florida Atlantic University in interdisciplinary studies in social science and graduated cum laude. She has been in the field of recovery for over ten years. Prior to coming to BHOPB, Laura worked for five years at Hazelden and then an additional two years at Hazelden in Minnesota before working for the Hanley center which was then connected Hazelden.
Her specialties are trauma and mental illness; she is trained in psychodrama, gestalt, breathwork and Jungian dreamwork. She is currently preparing to be a licensed interned, LMHC, with the state of Florida and will begin working toward her licensure. Outside of her work for BHOPB, she loves to swim. Also, she has been sponsoring a special needs child for the past seven years and enjoys spending her Sunday afternoons with him.
Therapist
Betsy has over eleven years experience in the addiction treatment field. Having grown up in Latin America she brings to the clinical team bilingual skills and a cultural sensitivity to assist our international clientele. Betsy holds a CAP and ICADC credentials. Betsy’s therapeutic style incorporates an eclectic mix of behavior modification, cognitive behavior therapy and rationale emotive therapy to educate and empower her clients to support their recovery process.
EMDR Specialist
Dr. Goldman is both a dentist and a licensed clinical social worker. He has specialized in chronic pain management since 1975. As a clinical instructor at The Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, he taught medical and dental residents the discipline of Orofacial and TMJ pain management and has published chapters on this topic. Dr. Goldman has served as the Clinical Director of the Orofacial and TMJ Pain Clinic at the New York University College of Dentistry where he is currently a Clinical Associate Professor. The combination of dentist, teacher and psychotherapist has made him uniquely qualified to treat patients for a wide variety of problems such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and trauma. He is formally trained and certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Doctor of Oriental Medicine
Randal Lyons is a nationally board certified acupuncturist and Chinese herbologist, a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine and an international consultant for addiction treatment centers. He serves on-staff for various health care facilities and maintains a private practice in Palm Beach County, Florida. The author of numerous articles for a wide range of professional publications and a sought after speaker, he has delivered hundreds of demonstrative lectures on subjects that explore the pathways between the body, mind and spirit.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Lisa Baugh received her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She holds an associate Marriage and Family Therapist license in Illinois, and a clinical Marriage and Family Therapist license in Florida. She is certified by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association and is a member of their Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association. She carries the highest level of "Advanced Certification" by the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. She has over 35 years experience working with horses and is one of the few practitioners thoroughly versed in both the equestrian and mental health disciplines.
Spiritual Advisor
Rabbi Simon is the founder and co-executive director of Rodfei Shalom Fellowship, an organization that brings Judaism and recovery together through programming and education for those affected by addiction and the Jewish community at large. In addition, he maintains a private counseling practice in Sunrise, Florida, specializing in working with male survivors of physical and sexual abuse. He received degrees from Yeshiva University, University of North Texas, and a Ph.D. in pastoral counseling from Maimonides University. Reb Nahum entered the field of addiction treatment at Mt. Sinai Addiction Treatment Program in Miami Beach, later directing programs for Henderson Mental Health and Think Life, both in Fort Lauderdale. He has rallied for the inclusion of spiritual assessments and spiritual tasks in treatment plans for all addicts in treatment and has presented workshops on this topic for the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association and the Florida State NAADAC conferences.

Case Manager
Lorraine S. Kozlowski is the Case Manager for Seaside Palm Beach. Her work experience includes over 10 years in public relations, marketing and as the Program Coordinator at The Hippocrates Health Institute. She is a Certified Hypnotherapist and offers over 13 years of life experience dealing with addictive behaviors. Lorraine is working towards her CAP certification.
Nurse
Mary Jane Fitzgerald received her BS in Nursing from the State University of New York in Stony Brook, NY and her Law Degree from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro College in Huntington, NY. She is a Licensed Health Care Risk Manager, an ACLS Certified Registered Professional Nurse, and has passed the Florida Bar.
Mary Jane has extensive experience in both Nursing Administration and Clinical Risk Management.
Debbie Sorrell attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she graduated with B.A. in Psychology. Her years as a meeting and special events planner landed her a position at Upledger Institute arranging CST seminars around the country. Her love for Craniosacral Therapy CST began when she started receiving CST treatments for her own debilitating back pain. While attending massage school she started taking CST classes and became a nationally licensed massage therapist in Florida in 2001. She has studied under Dr. John Upledger, developer of CST, at the Upledger Institute and worked several years in Dolphin Assisted Therapy Program located in Freeport, Bahamas. Debbie is also honored to be a teaching assistant for the CST curriculum.
Other courses Debbie has taken include Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, Myofascial Release, Ortho-Bionomy, Heart Centered Therapy, and Pediatrics. She is a Usui Reiki Practitioner and is presently completing two year course from East West School of Planetary Herbology.
Debbie accesses the body using a holistic approach which includes emotional, psychological, and physical components. She utilizes her knowledge, palpation skills and intuition to effectively address each clients needs.
